Why is it so easy to install?

Since Noveco is an SAP software application written in SAP’s ABAP programming language, it can be installed into your SAP system as an add-on (using SAINT and SPAM transaction codes).

It requires no Business Warehouse (BW), Business Intelligence (BI), Integrated Planning (IP) or other middle-ware to operate. It doesn’t rely on exchange interfaces, data extractors, info cubes, persistent data staging, refreshing, mapping protocols, or object links.

It is not interacting with the SAP ‘backend’, because it is based in the backend and uses the PS Infosystem as its prime database.

Just like the Project System library of standard reports comes with pre-configured columns of key figures, Noveco is pre-wired and can function immediately after installation with some basic configuration.

We ensure a quick implementation cycle without costly consulting. However, we also provide expert advice to help you optimise your configuration where necessary.

Noveco Implementation Cycle

Full Noveco implementation (steps 1-4 below) usually takes from a few hours to a few days, depending on the complexity of the installation and your business requirements. In some cases, we have introduced a better way of cost planning, which can make proof of concept take a little longer. With that said, our longest implementation process has taken no more than a few days.

Step 1. Proof of Concept

We review your PS implementation, existing projects and key requirements. Since accurate cost planning is the key, we run SAP standard cost element report S_ALR_87013543 to see what cost elements have been used in the past few years to collect actual costs on your projects. We analyse these cost elements and try to assemble them together into cost element groups: e.g. Materials, Services, Labour, Overheads etc.

Cost Element Groups in SAP are used by Finance, Controlling and Project Management departments. The best way to describe them as ‘views’ on your existing list of Cost Elements (internal and external).

In some cases, customers already have Cost Element Groups worked out completely. In other cases we have to create new CE Groups, so we can use them for our planning and forecasting purposes. This is not considered as a modification to your existing configuration.

This provides us the basis to perform our configuration.

Step 2. Install Noveco

In conjunction with your Basis Team, we provide software files, which your Basis Team will install in your SAP system.

Step 3. Configure SAP PS and Noveco

Based on the proof of concept, we configure some settings necessary for the solution to function.

Step 4. Customise standard reports

Noveco packages and delivers its own reports within the PS infosystem. We will make minor changes to these reports to reflect configuration so that you can run your forecasting reports from SAP.
